France to get Communications Intelligence Sensor Pod Suites

The State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to France of MQ-9 Communications Intelligence Sensor Pod Suites and related equipment for an estimated cost of $88 million. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.

France has requested to buy up to eight Communications Intelligence Sensor Pod Suites added to a previously implemented case. The original FMS case and amendments, valued at $71 million, included five Communications Intelligence Sensor Pod Suites. The notification is for a total of eight Communications Intelligence Sensor Pod Suites. The estimated total cost is $88 million.

The principal contractor will be BAE Systems. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems is only on contract for integration work. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
