Republic of Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace will exhibit its KF-21’s Engine based on General Aerospace’s GE F414 at the Farnborough Airshow 2024. Among the ROK-based defence firm’s products to be exhibited will be the unnamed low-bypass turbofan engine to power KF-21 fighter jets and ROK’s unmanned combat aircraft in the future. The engine is aimed to have a thrust of 15000 lbs in dry mode, 2000 lb more than the F414-400 turbofan used by KF-21.
Hanwha and General Aerospace (Former General Electric) are partnering with the F414 turbofan’s 400K variant for KF-21. In the space sector, KSLV-II, a three-stage launch vehicle with a payload capacity of 1.5 tons to a Sun-synchronous orbit, will be exhibited. Hanwha Aerospace will be the systems integrator for KSLV-II’s future launch missions through 2027. In addition to Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems subsidiary will exhibit its AESA radar family for aircraft.
Farnborough Airshow 2024 (FIA2024), to be held between the 22nd and 26th of July, will host a large number of defence and aerospace firms internationally, including Lockheed Martin, TUSAŞ, ASELSAN, BAE Systems, and General Atomics (Likely ASI subsidiary). TUSAŞ’s Gökbey General Purpose helicopter and others will perform flight as part of the event.
