HAVELSAN Teams Up with Spanish Alpha Unmanned Systems TurDef Alpha 900 and Alpha 800 RUAVs

HAVELSAN and Spain-based Alpha Unmanned Systems, specialising in small RUAV platforms, have signed an MoU covering software and joint development.

Spain-based Defensa y Seguridad reported that HAVELSAN and Alpha Unmanned Systems have recently signed an MoU which covers command/control solutions and joint demonstration/bidding activities. According to the MoU, Alpha Unmanned Systems will team up with HAVELSAN on various technical services for HAVELSAN’s UAVs. At the same time, HAVELSAN will pave the way for the export of the Spanish firm’s RUAV platforms to potential customers.

Alpha Unmanned Systems is specialised in lightweight RUAVs powered by internal combustion engines, and is offering three types of platforms.

Alpha 800, as the lightest option, has an MTOW of 14 kg with two kilograms of payload capacity and 2.5 hours of endurance.

The larger Alpha 900 with 25 kg of MTOW can fly for four hours and carry up to four kilograms.

Lastly, and interestingly, the firm is also offering a helicopter target variant of Alpha 900 as Alpha 900T, meant to test out air defence systems and aircraft against helicopters. Alpha 900T can simulate different types of helicopters in terms of flight characteristics, like attack helicopters and utility helicopters, for accurate representation.
