Hisar O Finalises Serial Production Qualification Tests

Hisar O Finalises Serial Production Qualification Tests TurDef

ASELSAN and ROKETSAN’s Hisar O air and missile defence system passes its serial production test phase. Full-scale production is set to commence soon.
The Hisar O system successfully passed one of its serial production qualification tests. Sharing the development on social media, Defence Industry Secretary (SSB) Haluk Görgün stated, “This next-generation system, which we continue to deliver to the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces, has struck targets at long range and high altitude with pinpoint accuracy.”

What Test Stages are conducted
The system development process follows several stages. Initially, design and development tests are conducted. Qualification tests, follow these and prototypes that pass these are subjected to acceptance tests involving end users. If the prototype clears this phase, serial production is approved. Any necessary design changes lead to a repetition of design verification tests from the beginning.

Before serial production begins, production line qualification tests are performed to verify that the approved design can be produced on the manufacturing line. Pilot production then follows to confirm that the approved design is reproducible under mass production conditions. During this phase, factors such as time constraints, material costs, and supplier changes may arise, necessitating additional validations. Once this stage is completed, there are no further obstacles to mass production, enabling the system to meet its allocated budget and timeline.
Furthermore, control or batch tests may be conducted during serial production for quality assurance or in response to field feedback or design adjustments. These ensure the continuity or improvement of the achieved quality standards.

Considering Görgün’s statement in this context, it can be inferred that the Hisar O air and missile defence system is nearing the completion of its qualification process for serial production approval. Production is expected to begin imminently.
