An Iranian MoD official reported to local media that the new Safir space launch vehicle is a "step towards reaching 36000 km orbit".
Speaking at the Kish Airshow, the official stated that Safir could carry a 1.5-tonne payload to the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO), an orbit range between 160 km and 2000 km.
The statement regarding the 36000 km orbit corresponds to the High Earth Orbit (HEO) or orbits above 35786 km.
Sarir is larger than the Safir and Simorgh space launch vehicles, but it has less than a ton of payload capacity for LEO launches.
Iran's space launch vehicles are also connected to technologies to develop longer-range ballistic missiles, as both systems are built with similar architectures, especially the propulsion section. Russia has used this connection inversely with R-7 and UR-500 space launch vehicles, which began their careers as ICBMs.
