Japan Acquires 1,200 AIM-120D-3/C-8 AMRAAM for $3.64 Billion TurDef

The State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Japan of AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM for an estimated cost of $3.64 billion. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification, notifying Congress of this possible sale on January 2nd. Japan has requested to buy up to 1,200 AIM-120 (D-3/C-8) Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM). The estimated total cost is $3.64 billion. The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation, located in Tucson, AZ.
