Baykar has performed the rocket-assisted take-off (RATO) test of the KEMANKEŞ 2 kamikaze UAV following the tests with trolley-type take-off.
RATO will be among the launch options for KEMANKEŞ 2 to offer flexibility in this regard. Previously, the UAV was launched by a pickup truck speeding up without any catapult or rocket assist.
RATO is a widely employed method to launch kamikaze UAVs, especially the heavier ones, as it offers rapid successive launches and doesn't require large catapults.
KEMANKEŞ 2 is the larger KEMANKEŞ jet-powered kamikaze UAV family member, developed for ground-based use. Compared to the UAV-launched KEMANKEŞ 1, KEMANKEŞ 2 carries a significantly larger 20 kg warhead and can land with its skids when needed. The guidance consists of GNSS and fixed optical seeker supported by AI. The maximum range for KEMANKEŞ 2 is 200 km.
