MAM-T glide munition fitted with a tandem penetrating warhead, dropped by AKINCI UCAV alongside TEBER-82 variants, successfully hit the hardened target.
ROKETSAN’s MAM-T glide munition in tandem penetrating warhead variant, using a shaped charge to penetrate hardened structures, successfully hit the hardened target as a display of its anti-structure capability.
The first test of MAM-T’s alternative warhead from AKINCI, also featuring TEBER-82 variants (Stubby wings and baseline), will allow the UCAV to engage hardened structures like hangars or small bunkers.
While AKINCI previously used the TOLUN-P SDB meant for the same target set, there is an important difference with the penetrating warhead MAM-T.
TOLUN-P’s hard casing relies on terminal speed for penetration, which is usually lower when dropped from the propeller-powered AKINCI UCAV compared to a fighter launch case. However, MAM-T, using a shaped charge for penetration effect, does not rely on speed, which is an advantage for slower flying platforms like AKINCI and Bayraktar TB3 UCAVs.
MAM-T can reach a maximum range of 65 km from AKINCI UCAV and weighs ~95 kg.
ROKETSAN’s heaviest member of the MAM family has been introduced with various new options over the course of past few years, including a folding wing kit variant, IIR seeker, and the cost-efficient TV seeker. A dual-mode IIR+TV seeker is in development for improved target discrimination while keeping the day/night operation capability.
