RCM2 was first revealed during ILA2024 alongside the Eurofighter Tranche 5 fighter. It will be launchable from aircraft, ships, and MLRS.
RCM2 is a remote carrier concept developed by MBDA and Airbus. These concepts consist of UAVs of various sizes meant to carry electronic warfare, weapon/warhead, or ISR payloads to aid fighter aircraft as part of the FCAS programme.
Designed like a cruise missile, RCM2 is intended to be a dual-use system: either a cruise missile with an explosive payload or a stand-in jammer with electronic warfare systems in place of the explosive.
In cruise missile configuration, RCM2 is stated to have a range of 500 km, but considering the stand-in jammer configuration, loitering capability likely exists.
Turkiye has developed the smaller TUSAŞ ŞİMŞEK target UAV similarly with jammer, decoy, and warhead-seeker payload options to act as a multi-purpose effector for ANKA UCAV. The larger and more capable SÜPER ŞİMŞEK has been flight-tested from AKSUNGUR UCAV. SÜPER ŞİMŞEK can carry more capable jammers or 50 kg of explosive payload alongside an optical/RF seeker. This larger UAV can be carried by AKSUNGUR and ANKA-III UCAVs.
