MBDA to Participate in SAHA EXPO 2024

European missile systems provider MBDA will participate in the SAHA EXPO in Istanbul from October 22 to 26, 2024.

There is fast progress on the Eurofighter side. Following the German side's consent on the Eurofighter fighter jet sale, European missile company MBDA will open a booth at the SAHA Expo. Eurofighter and MBDA are joint ventures of the same companies, Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who recently met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said that Turkiye is a NATO ally and there will be further developments in the defence industry.

The Eurofighter is an air superiority aircraft designed to intercept and dominate adversaries in aerial combat. MBDA's Meteor missile, renowned for its beyond-visual range capabilities, is considered an important asset in air combat due to its range and speed. The Meteor is known for its largest No-Escape Zone, which keeps strategic enemy assets which function as force multipliers far from the front line.

MBDA's ASRAAM is another critical asset for short-range air missiles. It is the Royal Air Force's Within Visual Range (WVR) dominance missile. The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) demonstrated ASRAAM's over-the-shoulder firing capability using Lock on After Launch (LOAL) mode, hitting target drones behind the aircraft's wing-line.

The TAURUS KEPD 350E, a modular stand-off weapon system, is designed for precision strikes against hardened and high-value targets. It is currently deployed on German Tornado IDS and Spanish EF-18 aircraft, with integration ongoing for the Korean F-15K and planned for the Eurofighter in Germany and Spain.

MBDA's Storm Shadow/SCALP, a long-range, deep-strike air-launched missile, is recognised for its ability to execute pre-planned attacks on high-value, fixed targets.

MBDA's other missile, Brimstone, is a combat-proven, low-collateral, tactical strike weapon capable of engaging a wide range of targets, from main battle tanks and buildings to fast-moving vehicles and maritime vessels. The latest generation of Brimstone builds upon 18 years of successful front-line operations with the RAF.
