Poland’s TB2s to be Deployed in Turkiye for NATO Missions TurDef

Under the Tailored Assurance Measures for Turkiye (TAMT) program, Poland is planning to send its Bayraktar TB2 UAVs to Turkiye in order to participate in NATO missions. The UAV will not be armed.

The Polish Armed Forces' General Staff announced this. According to the statement, this deployment is part of the routine rotation of Polish military units stationed in Turkiye. While the statement did not specify the exact base of operations, the missions are expected to be conducted from Incirlik 10th Main Jet Base Command, which frequently serves as a hub for NATO operations. The Polish military noted that the 12th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Base from Mirosławiec will carry out the tasks. The missions include: Patrolling the eastern waters of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

The provision of support to the Standing Naval Forces Teams of NATO throughout their activities within the area of responsibility, as well as the collaboration with those teams. Poland has been conducting operations in Turkiye since May 2021. This comes after the Turkish government made a request for NATO support in the year 2020, which occurred in the midst of growing tensions on the border between Turkiye and Syria. As a result of this deployment, Poland's most recent unmanned aerial vehicles will successfully complete their first mission overseas.

The mission will last six months and conclude in June 2025. Poland’s contribution highlights the ongoing NATO commitment to regional security and demonstrates the operational capabilities of its TB2 fleet in NATO and international missions.
