G/M-1 quad-packable air defence missile for the MİDLAS vertical launch system will introduce an array of new features to counter more capable threats.
TurDef learned during SAHA EXPO 2024 that the quad-packed air defence missile first revealed in the IDEF'23 exhibition was named G/M-1 and is part of the SAPAN project. The SAPAN project covers the development of air defence missiles for warships, including HİSAR-D RF, SİPER Product 1-D, and G/M-1.
Following the test-fired HİSAR-D RF missile, ROKETSAN intends to move forward with the considerably more capable G/M-1 missile with new guidance features.
G/M-1 will be a new missile with folding fins to allow quad-packing, a capability lacking by the HİSAR-D RF missile.
To counter new threats like supersonic anti-ship missiles and or those with low observability features, G/M-1 will introduce an AESA radar seeker and a new guidance algorithm for better interception rates against supersonic anti-ship missiles.
With similar longitudinal dimensions with HİSAR-D RF, the new missile will have identical range figures.
With HİSAR-D RF, G/M-1, and SİPER Product 1-D, Turkish warships using the MİDLAS vertical launch system will be capable of performing air defence at short, medium, and long ranges.
