ROKETSAN CEO Murat İkinci stated that Turkish UCAVs will receive new aeroballistic missiles with longer ranges and higher speeds.
In his interview with Anadolu Agency News, Murat İkinci underlined that new aeroballistic missile options for UCAVs are being worked on.
"Our most important goal is integrating munitions with longer ranges and larger calibres into our UCAVs. These include different versions of our ballistic missiles."
So far, ROKETSAN's UAV-230 and UAV-122 aeroballistic missiles have been tested from Baykar's AKINCI UCAV. UAV-230 can reach a range of 155 km, while the smaller UAV-122 can reach 55 km.
Both missiles are developments of ROEKTSAN's existing TRG-230 and TRG-122 artillery rockets.
Both missiles are mainly guided by GNSS/INS feature provisions for seekers. UAV-230 can use a laser seeker, while the smaller UAV-122 was demonstrated with TV and laser seekers.
Compared to cruise missiles, aeroballistic missiles offer stand-off capabilities for UCAVs at significantly lower costs due to their more straightforward design. Where cruise missiles use low altitude and reduced RCS; aeroballistic missiles rely on high supersonic speeds to bypass air defence systems, doubling as less time to target at the same distance.
