Romania to Acquire 32 F-35 Paying a total of $7.2 Billion

The State Department has approved selling for an estimated cost of $7.2 billion.

The US approved the sale of 32 F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) aircraft to Romania.

The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the requisite certification informing Congress of the probable sale. Romania has sought to purchase 32 F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) aircraft and 33 Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 engines (32 fitted and one spare). 

The anticipated overall cost is $7.2 billion. The primary contractor will be Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, Fort Worth, Texas.
