RTK Teknoloji Starts Up KAHRAMAN UAV’s Engines

Turkish defence firm RTK Teknoloji, working on the jet-powered KAHRAMAN target UAV, has started up the engines. RTK’s KAHRAMAN high-speed target UAV will be the first in Turkiye to have a twin-engine layout. With its aerodynamic layout and two engines, the UAV will be capable of reaching high subsonic speeds. Selahattin Selek, the CEO of RTK Teknoloji, stated that a catapult system for launching the UAV has also been developed. The other jet-powered target UAVs of Turkiye include TUSAŞ’s ŞİMŞEK and UAVERA’s CENGAVER. High-speed target UAVs are important for testing or training air defence systems or fighter jets as they can replicate different threats (Enemy aircraft, cruise missiles…, etc.). Turkiye extensively used these UAVs in HİSAR and SUNGUR air defence missile firing tests.
