According to the investigations at debris, Russia uses Western components in its UAVs. Ukrainian and Moldovan authorities have such claims for various UAVs.
The Ukrainian Intelligence Directorate (GUR) claimed to have found dozens of Western-made parts on the Russian S-70 Okhotnik-B (Hunter-B) UCAV with a flying wing structure that was shot down by friendly fire last month.
The statement made by GUR included the following statements: “Despite the sanctions, the aggressor state used components manufactured by Western companies to create this weapon. In particular, microelectronics and other technological components manufactured by Analog Devices, Texas Instruments and Xilinx-AMD (USA), Infineon Technologies (Germany), and STMicroelectronics (Switzerland) were found on the Russian S-70 Hunter.”

Moldovan authorities, on the other hand, announced on November 10, 2024, that UAV debris had been found following a Russian airstrike on Ukraine. It is known that the drone that crashed in the Căușeni and Rîșcani districts in Moldova was a decoy drone or deceptive drone known as Parodya. The Parodya is one of the main deception drones that Russia has used extensively in its airstrikes against Ukraine.
Decoys serve to distract Ukraine’s air defence systems as part of a saturation attack with kamikaze UAVs or cruise missiles.
