ASELSAN unveiled the electronic warfare and laser-guided variants of the TOLUN SDB as TOLUN-EW and TOLUN-L during SAHA EXPO 2026 to expand the options.

ASELSAN  [BIST:ASELS] is expanding its TOLUN small-diameter bomb (SDB) family with two new variants: TOLUN-L laser-guided SDB and TOLUN-EW gliding electronic warfare effector.

TOLUN-L

TOLUN-L, based on the same form as TOLUN-IIR and TOLUN-F, uses a laser seeker that is cheaper than an IIR seeker while offering improved precision and moving target engagement at the cost of multi-target engagement. Warhead and range values are likely not very different from those of TOLUN-IIR due to the use of a seeker and the same form.

TOLUN-EW

TOLUN-EW, while having the same looks, is internally a different story as ASELSAN’s first disposable electronic warfare system. The new variant has an electronic warfare system in place of the 70 kg HE-FRAG warhead, which provides stand-in jamming, decoy generation, and suppression depending on the choice.

The fact that TOLUN-EW can be carried not only individually but also from the SADAK-4T quad racks can turn any platform into an electronic warfare asset that can affect multiple targets.

TOLUN-EW is planned to be integrated on Bayraktar TB3, ANKA, AKSUNGUR, AKINCI, KIZILELMA, and ANKA-III.

Compared to powered and sometimes recoverable alternatives, the unpowered TOLUN-EW, using the same geometry and launch interface as TOLUN-F/IIR/L, provides a lower-cost alternative that can be rapidly fitted on a wide variety of platforms compatible with the current TOLUN variants.

FULMAR 500-A + ASELFLIR 600 + TOLUN-L/EW Strike Package

ASELSAN also showed a strike package concept for AKINCI UCAV that combines FULMAR 500-A multi-function AESA radar, ASELFLIR 600 EO/IR system, and the new TOLUN variants.

With this package, AKINCI becomes an armed scout for high-end formations that involve manned/unmanned fighters, thanks to the FULMAR 500-A optimised for surface targets and the high-performance ASELFLIR 600 optic.

FULMAR 500-A with SAR and surface target searching capabilities is responsible for wide-area long-range detection, while ASELFLIR 600 performs identification and targeting.

Thanks to the longer laser designation range of ASELFLIR 600, AKINCI UCAV can utilise TOLUN-L effectively, which should have a range slightly below that of the TOLUN-P at 65 km (When launched from AKINCI).

On the other hand, TOLUN EW as the supporting asset neutralises enemy air defence systems with its multifunctional jamming capabilities discussed earlier.
