German Chancellor Scholz confirmed that Germany will provide arms and military platforms to Turkiye, underlining its NATO alliance.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, who was paying a working visit to Turkiye, at the Dolmabahçe Presidential Office. After the meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a joint press conference with Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany.
President Erdoğan stated that Turkiye and Germany are increasing their trade volume. It reached $50 billion this year, and he is hopeful that it will reach $60 billion next year. He added, “We desire to leave behind the problems we have encountered before about purchasing defence industry products and enhance our cooperation.”

Answering a question about arms sales to Turkiye, Chancellor Scholz said that Turkiye is a NATO member and that they have reached a decision recently. There will be more soon. Chancellor Scholz mentioned the Eurofighter jet negotiations between Turkiye and Germany as the United Kingdom has started them. He said, “The British Government holds negotiations. There will be developments on this topic.”
TurDef understands that Chancellor Scholz's "negotiations" word is not a reference to acquisition negotiations but preliminary technical talks.
