SİPER-2 Long Range Air Defence Missile Hits Evading Target

SİPER 2 Long Range Air Defence Missile Hits Evading Target TurDef

TÜBİTAK SAGE and ROKETSAN’s SİPER-2 long-range air defence missile successfully hit the manoeuvring Banshee target UAV during its latest firing test.

The follow-up missile to SİPER-1 for the SİPER long-range air defence system, SİPER-2 against air-breathing targets, scored a hit on a manoeuvring target UAV during a firing test. SİPER-2 guided by ALP 310-G searching radar and PUSAT 1000-G fire control radar hit the Banshee target UAV which performed evasive manoeuvres.

SİPER-2 is a distinct design from the two-stage SİPER-1 as a mono-block missile, but of a considerably larger size. The higher thrust allows SİPER-2 to reach a maximum range of 150+ km and an altitude of 30+ km. Additionally, the missile adopts a larger RF seeker from ASELSAN’s AGRAS SA series.

Whereas SİPER-1 and Block-2 will counter air-breathing targets, SİPER-A and SİPER- 4 are being developed for ballistic missile interception at different layers. SİPER-A with an AESA seeker and high agility will work at high altitude (Similar to PAC-3 and Aster-30). In contrast, SİPER-4 will strictly work at upper layers against longer-ranged ballistic missiles.
