U.S. State Department: "Everyone knows the conditions required for the supply of F-35s to Turkiye, and our policy has not changed."
Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler stated that the U.S.'s stance on F-35s had changed in the Turkish Parliament Planning and Budget Committee, where the Ministry's 2025 budget was discussed. However, in a report by Voice of America regarding Güler's words that the U.S. no longer has any objections to the Russian-made S-400 missiles in Turkiye's possession and that they could provide F-35 fighter jets, the U.S. State Department noted that there had been no change in its policies.
The Ministry made a written statement, "Everyone knows the conditions required for the supply of F-35s to Turkiye, and our policy has not changed. Turkiye's continued interoperability with NATO continues to be a critical priority for the U.S." On the other hand, according to the report by Voice of America, the Ministry did not answer whether there were talks with Turkiye regarding the purchase of F-35s or a return to the F-35 program.
