STM Unveils BOYGA-B Armed Hexacopter UAV with More Payload TurDef

After the BOYGA munition-dropping quadcopter UAV’s introduction, STM unveiled BOYGA-B in hexacopter configuration, capable of carrying larger munition payloads.

BOYGA-B, as a follow-up to BOYGA, currently in use by the Turkish Army, has a configuration with more total engine power thanks to the hexacopter configuration, allowing for increased weapons payload and new options for munitions.

Whereas the baseline BOYGA can carry only one MKE MOD-132 81 mm mortar round specialised for dropping from UAVs, BOYGA-B can carry two. MOD-132 munition weighing two kilograms carries 1300 5 mm steel balls with an impact fuse.

In addition to this, the new armed UAV has smart munition options as one TUNGA munition and one KARGU FPV kamikaze UAV.

TUNGA, unveiled at IDEF2025, is an extremely lightweight free-fall smart munition fitted with a dual-mode EO/IR seeker. The munition weighing 3.45 kg uses GNSS-supported guidance with a gimballing seeker, which includes an HD TV camera with 10x zoom and a 640x512 px thermal camera. The warhead, similar to that of MOD 132, weighs 1.75 kg and includes 1980 steel balls and a proximity fuse to effect a 20x20 m area.

KARGU FPV, in addition to a fragmentation warhead, can carry a shaped charge for effective engagement of armoured vehicles, as demonstrated earlier.
