Taiwan Army purchases 50 short-range UAVs for ISR

The Taiwan Army has purchased 50 tactical short-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to improve the reconnaissance capabilities of the military's joint battalions, according to the Army Command statement on June 6th. 

  According to government controlled Central News Agency (CNA), the Army has budgeted $26.5 million from 2020 to 2023 to purchase 14 rotor-wing UAVs this year and 36 sets next year. According to the Army Command, the drones will also improve the joint battalions' early warning capabilities and combat response time.The National Chung Shang Institute for Science and Technology (NCSIST) completed the system integration of the UAV last year and is currently performing functional and performance tests. The drones are expected to be delivered in the second half of this year.
