Türkiye and the UK signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at IDEF 2025 to acquire Eurofighter Typhoon fighter planes. This would improve the two NATO allies' strategic military collaboration.
On the second day of the IDEF 2025 International Defence Industry Fair in Istanbul, Türkiye's Minister of National Defence, Yaşar Güler, and the UK's Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to acquire Eurofighter Typhoon fighter planes. The purchase is a big step forward for Türkiye in its goal of joining the Eurofighter user community and working more closely with the UK on military issues.
The two ministers met at the expo and signed the MoU, which proved that they were both dedicated to pushing the Eurofighter contract ahead and improving defence cooperation between the two NATO countries.
on the other hand side, the German government has cleared the way for the export of jets to Turkiye. The Federal government declared that the Ministry of Defense "has sent a written confirmation to the Turkish government confirming the export approval."
