ASELSAN’s TOLUN GNSS/INS guided small-diameter bomb launched from an F-16 fighter equipped with SADAK-4T smart rack (SDB) hit a target at sea 100+ km away.
ASELSAN announced the test from this month, stating that a new record was set for TOLUN’s tested range at 100+ km. Not long ago, ASELSAN also announced the first test of the KGK-84 winged guidance kit for 2000 lb general-purpose bombs as the completion of the KGK family.
Previous stretching tests of TOLUN include a test from AKINCI UCAV in which a sea target was hit 65 km away.
TOLUN is the baseline variant in ASELSAN’s family of SDBs, which also includes TOLUN-F with a fragmentation warhead, TOLUN-IIR with an IIR seeker+fragmentation warhead, and the surface-launched TOLUN-S using a booster rocket developed by DeltaV. Excluding TOLUN-S, all TOLUN variants can be dropped from SADAK-4T and SADAK-2T smart racks, as well as plain hardpoints (In case of AKINCI and ANKA-III).
Baseline TOLUN is equipped with a hard case penetrating warhead that can penetrate up to one meter of reinforced concrete, depending on range and the angle of approach. The GNSS/INS guidance includes waypoints for navigating through terrain.
