Türkiye has received a response to its request for a price proposal from the United Kingdom and BAE Systems for the procurement of Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
Responding to inquiries regarding the Eurofighter procurement process, sources from the Ministry of National Defence (MoD) stated:
“We previously announced that the Requirement Definition Document for the procurement of 40 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to meet the operational needs of our Air Force was submitted to the UK Ministry of Defence and the relevant company and that we were expecting an offer. The anticipated proposal has now reached our Ministry, and the evaluation process is ongoing.”

Türkiye’s Role in European Security Architecture

Addressing questions regarding European security architecture and Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak’s visit to Paris, MoD sources stated:
Thanks to its modern defence industry, a major contribution to settling regional crises, and powerful military, Türkiye is a natural element of the European security architecture as a NATO and OSCE member and a candidate country for the EU.

Recent developments have once again highlighted Türkiye’s importance in ensuring European security. During today’s visit of the UK Secretary of State for Defence to our Ministry, bilateral and regional defence and security issues, particularly Ukraine and European security, as well as defence industry cooperation, will be discussed.”
Moreover, Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak participated in the Chiefs of Defence Meeting organised under the Defence and Security Forum in Paris on March 10–11, 2025. In view of recent events, the conference covered shared ideas and creative solutions for the present security architecture; Türkiye also kept bilateral contacts on the topic.

“As a key player in the European security architecture, Türkiye remains ready to fulfil its responsibilities,” the sources added.

Minister Güler’s Visit to Saudi Arabia

Regarding National Defence Minister Yaşar Güler’s visit to Saudi Arabia on 11-12 March, MoD sources stated:
“During the visit, bilateral and regional defence and security matters were discussed. Additionally, views were exchanged on future defence industry cooperation. Our relations with Saudi Arabia continue to improve daily. This latest visit was highly productive and positive from our perspective.”
