Turkiye’s Ministry of National Defence confirmed that a Turkish Air Force E-7T Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft operated over Lithuanian airspace from 22–25 September as part of NATO’s enhanced vigilance activities. The statement provided the first official confirmation after Bloomberg claimed an earlier deployment to Lithuania but no official declaration was made.
The ministry also said that on 25 September two Turkish F-16 fighters joined NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defence training in Romanian airspace. The move comes amid a series of recent Russian drone and jet incursions into Polish, Romanian and Estonian airspace.
On 24 September Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovile Sakaliene called for the Spanish Eurofighter detachment in the region to respond to any new violations. The same day, a Spanish Air Force A-330 carrying Defence Minister Margarita Robles to Lithuaniawas exposed to GPS jamming near Kaliningrad while cruising at 40,000 feet and around 60 kilometres from the Russian border.
