Turkiye and Italy form a JV for landing-gear maintenance, starting with ATAK helicopters and aiming to expand capacity for military and civilian aircraft.
ASFAT and Italy’s Magnaghi Aerospace will establish a joint maintenance centre in Turkiye to service military and civilian landing gear systems, starting with T129 ATAK helicopters.
ASFAT A.Ş., a subsidiary of Turkiye’s Ministry of National Defence, has signed a joint venture agreement with Naples-based Magnaghi Aerospace during Teknofest in Istanbul. The deal was signed by ASFAT General Manager Mustafa İlbaş and Magnaghi Chairman and CEO Paolo Graziano, in the presence of Defence Minister Yaşar Güler and Deputy Minister Musa Heybet, who also chairs ASFAT’s board.
The partnership will create a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre in Türkiye. Its first task will be the maintenance and overhaul of landing gear systems for Turkish Armed Forces platforms, starting with the T129 ATAK attack helicopters. ASFAT also plans to extend services to civilian platforms, aiming to make Türkiye a regional hub for landing gear maintenance and exports.
Magnaghi Aeronautica is one of the manufacturers capable of designing, producing and certifying complete landing gear systems. The company develops tailor-made projects for both military and civil fixed-wing aircraft, from design through certification, and also focuses on hydraulic and electromechanical subsystems for aerospace platforms.
