Day by day, Turkiye receives more hints about Germany’s possible consent to sell the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Following Der Speigel’s exclusive news about a secret arms deal of $368m to Turkiye for the first time after a long interval, more hints are coming. Middle East Eye (MEE) wrote that Germany is evaluating the possibility of selling Eurofighters to Turkiye, a move that remained silent for a long time even though the United Kingdom was a supporter of the idea. MEE reporter Ragıp Soylu stated that a source familiar with the matter confirmed Germany’s new position.

Turkiye plans to form at least one fleet of Eurofighters, which may lead to a second one. Eurofighter’s first fleet might consist of 20 jets with a value of $5.6bn in total. Soylu wrote that the Turkish side has also informed journalists as, “Akif Çağatay Kılıç, a chief advisor of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, told Turkish journalists last week in a closed-door meeting that there had been some progress on the Eurofighter deal but wouldn’t reveal details.”
