UAV-Carrying UAV Spotted in Russian-Ukrainian War

An unidentified type of rotary-wing UAV capable of carrying and dropping smaller UAVs was spotted in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict zone. Clash Report shared the video from the UAV. The feed is understood to be from the smaller UAV getting dropped from its ‘mothership’. The mission profile is also uncertain. However, because a larger UAV would have a longer range, it is more likely that the main role is reconnaissance. The mother UAV is also likely to act as a communication node for the smaller UAV. With multiple smaller UAVs and respective operators, the user can survey larger areas in the same time frame with more than one eye looking around. Signal-repeating UAVs are known to be utilised in the war to increase control range and resistance against jamming. With the origin unknown, it might be revealed by either footage from the operators or an image from captures or wreckages.
