US Deploys Bombers in the Pacific to Protect Japan TurDef

The United States is looking for additional actions in reaction to China's growing activity in the Pacific. The most recent event in this trend is the sending of B-1B Lancer strategic bombers to Japan. China, which has been modernising its military in line with the needs of the contemporary battlefield, has lately been stepping up its actions in the area. These changes and its quick purchase of the next vessels are directly affecting US force projection strategies.

Against this backdrop, the Misawa Air Base in north-west Japan has seen two B-1B Lancers sent. According to a statement, the jets were assigned to the 9th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron running out of Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. Throughout the cycle, the planes also ran training operations to enhance the Republic of Korea F-35 Lightning II and F-16 Fighting Falcon cooperation and interoperability.

The rotation can be described as a show of force for the US. B-1B Lancers with variable wing geometry can reach supersonic speeds and penetrate enemy airspace with a payload of up to 34 tonnes. Chinese movements are forcing the West in the region and Washington to take new steps and additional measures to power projection. A good example in this regard is the rotation for an extended period of a strategic bomber force in Japan.
