ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol stated that the work for the GÜRZ hybrid air defence system’s serial production began in 2024 in his 2024 summary of developments.
GÜRZ, combining gun and missile solutions for low-altitude air defence, will be a hybrid component of the Steel Dome Integrated Air Defence System.
A 35 mm revolver cannon with 35 mm ATOM airburst ammunition capability and a KANGAL jammer are utilised at the lowest layer. SUNGUR air defence missile with a range of 8 km and GÖKSUR IIR (Surface-launched BOZDOĞAN AAM with folding fins and datalink) with a range of 15+ km are utilised against aircraft and subsonic/supersonic cruise missiles at longer ranges.
The sensor suite consists of four AESA radars for detection/tracking, which appear to be based on KALKAN 050-G and AKREP 100-G fire control radar in use with KORKUT SPAAG.
