US Publication WSJ claimed that Ukraine lost one of its F-16s at first deployment against Russia, killing the pilot in the incident.
Wall Street Journal published an article by Lara Seligman to state that a Ukrainian pilot was killed as his F-16 crashed. He was hunting Russian cruise missiles that attacked Ukraine.
It is stated that the incident took place on August 26. The F-16 was not hit by an enemy attack, and it crashed due to pilot error. In the attack, Russia targeted numerous energy and fuel facilities, including a dam in Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian Air Forces hunted 127 missiles and 102 UAVs belonging to Russia. Zelenskyy also stated that F-16 fighter jets were used to repel the Russian attack on August 26.
It is known that a total of ten F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets have been delivered to the Ukrainian Air Force so far. It was also announced that the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Belgium have committed to sending at least 79 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
