Taiwan National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology plans to convert ROCAF’s retired 40 F-5 fighter jets into Combat Drones (UCAV).
According to the Royal Thai Air Force’s commander-in-chief, ACM Napadej Dhupatemiya, buying eight F-35 stealth fighter jets from the United States would strengthen the country’s defence. Lockheed Martin’s F-35 is not out of reach, according to ACM Napadej, compared to the Swedish-made Saab Gripen evaluated at $85 million per unit. He added that, depending on negotiations, the F-35’s unit prices could be reduced to just over $70 million each.
