During TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu's visit to the Turkish Embassy in Madrid, a Hürjet advanced trainer model with Spanish Air Force livery was spotted.
As Spain's tender to replace its F-5s in trainer configuration and Hürjet was shortlisted, TUSAŞ has shown what would Hürjet in service with the Spanish Air Force as a trainer during a visit to Spain last week.
Spain has proposed providing six A400M cargo aircraft in exchange for 24 Hürjet advanced trainers, hoping to satisfy both parties' needs rapidly. Turkiye is eyeing new cargo aircraft to boost logistics capabilities, and Spain is eyeing new advanced trainers.
Hürjet made its maiden flight on April 25, 2023, and the aircraft continues its flight tests to verify its performance. These tests include flight at Mach 0.9 and high-G manoeuvre tests.
Another potential export customer for Hürjet is Egypt, where the aircraft performed a demonstration flight during the Egypt International Airshow. The Egyptian military staff has made multiple visits to inspect Hürjet this year.
TUSAŞ aims to manufacture six to seven aircraft in the first year of the serial production process of Hürjet, two per month, and 24 aircraft per year from the following year. It is aimed to deliver two HÜRJETs to the customer every month after 2025. Hürjet deliveries to the Turkish Air Force will also begin in 2025.
