President Joe Biden signed a bill to fund the government through September and deliver $13.6 billion in aid to Ukraine. According to Swedish Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist, Sweden's admission to NATO would entail a significant shift in the security line, affecting the safety of the country's immediate vicinity. Minister Hultqvist stated that his country would not join NATO as long as he is in charge of defence. He has also speculated that sending NATO soldiers to Ukraine may push Europe into World War III. "Sending soldiers to Ukraine by NATO or the West would be tantamount to inciting a world war, which no one wants," he explained.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said he is no longer pressing for NATO membership as the alliance was worried about a confrontation with Russia.
