$423 million in Defence Exports in August

The Turkish Exporters Assembly announced the August Turkish defence and aviation sector exports. According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data, the Turkish defence and aviation sector realized $423 million 33 thousand in exports in August 2024.

Global defence procurement and budgets have seen significant increases since Russia attacked Ukraine. Turkey is also striving to secure a share of this growth, which has been a key factor in its export increase. In the first eight months of 2024, the sector's defence and aviation exports increased by 9.8 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $3 billion 738 million 241 thousand. Thus, the sector's exports increased by 13.4 per cent annually in the past year. In 2024, products were exported to 171 different countries.

The Turkish defence and aviation sector had set an ambitious target of $6 billion in exports for 2023. While it fell slightly short of this goal, the sector's performance in 2024 continues to develop, with exports reaching 5 billion 545 million 622 thousand dollars, surpassing its previous record and demonstrating its growth potential and market competitiveness.
