Airbus Spearheads Spain’s Industrial Force for HÜRJET/SAETA II TurDef

Airbus and TUSAŞ have formalised the industrial cooperation between Türkish and Spanish firms for the HÜRJETs to replace the F-5M advanced trainers of EdAE.

TUSAŞ and Airbus have made the industrial cooperation between Türkiye and Spain for HÜRJET advanced trainers official. 30 (Option for 15 more) HÜRJETs will replace the F-5M advanced trainers in the Spanish Air and Space Force Service (EdAE) as SAETA II, which will have a broad range of Spain-specific customisations.

In the cooperation, TUSAŞ will provide the capable HÜRJET to be localised in Spain, while Airbus will coordinate the localisation, training system integration, and complete life-cycle support within Spain in cooperation with local firms.

The Spanish side of the industrial cooperation consists of 15 firms. Local firms are expected to have a contribution of 60% in the partnership for the ITS-C programme.

During the event in Getafe regarding HÜRJET/SAETA II, Airbus and the Spanish firms presented the industrial plan that also involves the revamp of the Fighter and Strike School Training Centre at the Talavera la Real Air Base.

Airbus has also added SAETA II to its official website’s products section, providing detailed information on the platform and the bilateral project, including a FAQ panel.
