TUSAŞ shared a flight test video of AKSUNGUR UCAV carrying two SÜPER ŞİMŞEK multi-role UAVs, which can be used as decoys, stand-in jammers, and kamikaze.
New test flight of AKSUNGUR includes two SÜPER ŞİMŞEK UAVs carried under the wings, hinting at an upcoming test. SÜPER ŞİMŞEK, as a larger, faster, and more versatile follow-up to ŞİMŞEK target UAV, was previously tested from the stealthy ANKA-III UCAV. Further back in time, ANKA UCAV was used for the air launch tests of the ŞİMŞEK UAV which is in active use.
SÜPER ŞİMŞEK supports several missions, including acting as a target for tests or training, usage as a decoy against enemy air defences by signature amplification, performing electronic warfare (ESM or jammer integration), or use as a kamikaze UAV with a 35+ kg warhead and options for various seekers.
The multi-role UAV weighing 200 kg and powered by a turbojet engine can reach a top sped of Mach 0.85 and reach a range of 900 km. Aside from air launch, the SÜPER ŞİMŞEK can be launched from the surface platforms with rocket-assisted takeoff.
As supporting platforms, TUSAŞ’s OKU MUM-T system, where KAAN fighter is the commanding platform, multiple SÜPER ŞİMŞEK UAVs can be coordinated as swarms.
