The Turkish Navy invests in the infrastructure of Aksaz Naval Base. After the investment of 350 million euros, TCG Anadolu and AIP Submarines will use the base.
Turkish Navy published the 657th issue of the Naval Forces Magazine. The magazine included an article about the “Project and Study Activities” of the Turkish Naval Forces. The Interview with the First Admiral of the Naval Engineering Class, Rear Admiral Tayfun Öznel, provides information about the future vision of the Turkish Naval Forces.
Öznel said they planned to build a dock, pier, and coastal facilities for the TCG Anadolu L400 and Reis Class submarines at Aksaz Naval Base. He indicated that the project’s total budget would reach 350 million Euros and that financing solutions were being evaluated. The Turkish Defence Ministry recently declared that Aksaz Shipyard Command entered service, too.

According to the information provided by Öznel, establishing an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) Group Command in 2025 is also proposed. There is an ongoing study in Didim / Aydın to evaluate infrastructure/superstructure needs studies. In addition to Didim/Aydın, studies will continue to deploy USVs in various regions. In this context, within the scope of “USV infrastructure needs”, the necessary infrastructures will be established in Aksaz, Foça, Çanakkale, Gölcük, Mersin and Black Sea Ereğli regions.

Öznel also stated that the “Construction of a multi-purpose aircraft maintenance hangar and parking area for Çanakkale Naval Air Group Command” and “Construction of two finger piers in Çanakkale for the deployment of frigates and submarines and modernisation of the electrical infrastructure” are among the works continued/proposed in the construction and project phase within the Scope of Urgent Operation Needs in the Construction Program.
