ARES Shipyard’s ARES 18 SAR boat, developed for the Turkish Directorate General of Coastal Safety (KEGM), passed its self-righting test against toppling.
KEGM’s new search and rescue boat, ARES 18 SAR, passed a critical test regarding safety. Self-righting capability verified in the test holds significance considering the boat’s main mission of supporting rescue operations even under rough sea conditions.
ARES Shipyards will deliver 16 boats in total to KEGM, which acts as a safety department within the structure of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. ARES 18 SAR will be mainly used for assisting ships in distress as well as rescuing survivors in the event of accidents occuring in the shoreline.
The boats can reach a speed of 20+ knots and measure 17 m in length. The structure houses extra seats to transport personnel or rescues in comfort.
