Argentina is set to acquire French Scorpene Submarines

Argentina has officially initiated discussions regarding the potential purchase of Naval Group’s Scorpene submarines after signing a pertinent letter of intent (LoI) in early October.

The discussions are anticipated to cover the potential level of Argentine industry involvement in the program. If acquired, Argentina would join Brazil (4 submarines) and Chile (2) as the third user of Scorpene submarines in Latin America. The Scorpene is currently in service with both India and Malaysia, and Indonesia has placed additional orders.
The estimated cost for each submarine is $700 million.
