ASELSAN announced that the SMASH 100/30 30 mm remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS) was delivered to the Croatian Navy’s OOB-31 OMIS-class patrol vessels.
Croatian Navy’s OOB-31 OMIS patrol vessels to replace the ageing Mirna-class patrol vessels will use ASELSAN’s SMASH 100/30 RCWS as their main firepower. The announcement from ASELSAN adds that other marine RCWS in different calibres will be delivered to the Croatian Navy.
SMASH 100/30 RCWS was recently seen on Pakistan’s PNS Yarmook OPV and Slovenian MPS Triglav patrol vessel (In place of Soviet-made AK-630 CIWS) modernised by Desan Shipyards.
SMASH 100/30 (Also called SMASH 200/30) is a dual-feed RCWS for patrol vessels and larger platforms using the Mk44 Bushmaster 30x173 mm chain gun. The turret houses 100+100 rounds in a dual-feed configuration and an EO/IR suite for detection/tracking.
