Construction of LMS Batch 2 Corvettes Begin

STM has started the construction of Malaysia's LMS Batch 2 corvettes based on MİLGEM design with the steel cutting ceremony.

STM CEO Özgür Güleryüz and a delegation from the Malaysian MoD attended the ceremony in Istanbul Shipyard. Malaysian Navy announced that the first of three corvettes will be delivered to the Malaysian Navy in 2027.

LMS Batch 2 corvettes are based on the Ada-class corvettes, like ASFAT's PN MİLGEM corvettes of Pakistan and Hisar-class OPVs being built for the Turkish Navy.

The ships configured for Malaysia's requirements will carry one 76 mm naval gun, ASELSAN Gökdeniz 35 mm CIWS, four ROKETSAN Atmaca anti-ship missiles, and four ROK-made K-VLS cells for K-SAAM quad-pack short-range air defence missiles as the weaponry.

The primary sensors are ASELSAN CENK 400-N AESA search radar and AKREP-series fire control radar.

The ships will use HAVELSAN's ADVENT combat management system and 76 mm main gun fire control system.

Like PN MİLGEM, LMS Batch 2's loadout offers a considerable self-defence capability for a corvette with the combination of air defence missiles and GÖKDENİZ CIWS. These ships will also be the second class to use the CENK 400-N AESA radar after the I-class frigates of the Turkish Navy.
