Embraer to Convert C-390 Millennium into MPA for FAB

Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) have entered into an agreement to create a maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) variant of the C-390 Millennium.

Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) announced at the National Defence and Security Fair (Mostra BID) that the C-390 Millennium, originally crafted for transport and aerial refuelling, is now outfitted with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for land operations.

The suggested maritime variant will integrate cutting-edge sensors and weaponry to broaden its operational capabilities in naval contexts. The aircraft will prominently include the capacity to carry two indigenously developed MANSUP/MANSUP-ER anti-ship missiles, a result of collaboration between Brazil and the UAE, establishing it as a formidable maritime defence platform.

The existing fleet of six C-390 Millennium aircraft has reached 15,000 operational hours, attaining a 93% mission capability rate and a 99% mission completion rate, as reported by Embraer. This record highlights the platform's dependability and potential for growth into specialised areas such as maritime patrol.

The maritime patrol variant of the C-390 will incorporate mission systems, including Advanced maritime sensors, radar and electro-optical systems specifically designed for maritime surveillance. Weapon Systems, including anti-ship missiles along with other payloads tailored for maritime operations. Endurance and Range, Enhancing capabilities for prolonged missions across key maritime areas.
This initiative corresponds with Brazil's growing emphasis on safeguarding its extensive maritime regions, including the Blue Amazon, a zone abundant in natural resources and crucial for national security.
