Eurofighter Typhoon Fighter’s Tranche 5 variant has been put on display with its future payloads ranging from new munitions to remote carrier UAVs. Tranche 5 was exhibited alongside RCM2 remote carrier UAV and STAR pod to control different types of UAVs that were to be developed as remote carriers during the ILA2024 exhibition. RCM2 is close to a cruise missile in overall profile and powered by a turbojet engine. Depending on needs, the UAV can carry sensors, electronic warfare payloads, or act like a cruise missile. In another booth, the Eurofighter Typhoon was presented with Diehl’s FEANIX light remote carrier UAV and the larger HRC, which can carry air-to-air missiles in its internal bay. The shown missiles are two variants of Diehl FCAAM design. HRC can carry two baseline FCAAMs or four smaller “half-bay” FCAAMs. The former was also presented on the Eurofighter model under a twin pylon. FCAAM is being developed as the successor to IRIS-T visual-range AAMs. EDR Magazine reported that the missile will have a multi-stage propulsion, adaptive warhead, multi-spectral IIR seeker, and a smaller, rectangular profile for better fitting inside weapon bays. The ILA2024 exhibition organised in Germany is housing an array of new projects for air forces.
