Export Deal Finalised with Indonesia for KAAN Fighter Jet TurDef

The Export agreement for the KAAN fighter jet has been signed between Turkiye and Indonesia during the IDEF25 defence exhibition held in Istanbul.

TUSAŞ, the Indonesian MoD, and the Secretary of the Turkish Defence Industries, Haluk Görgün, attended the signing ceremony for the contract titled Purchase Contract of KAAN Aircraft. With this contract, the export of KAAN to Indonesia has been finalised.

Additionally, PT Republik Aero Dirgantara and PT Dirgantara Indonesia will take part in the production and ToT within the scope of another contract.

Prior to IDEF25, an MoU was signed for 48 KAAN fighters to Indonesia during Indo Defence 2025, with the contribution of local firms in the production.

The delivery of the KAAN fighters is planned to be completed in 120 months (10 years) according to the previously signed MoU.

The finalisation of the export not only marks Turkiye’s entrance to the fighter jet market but also a milestone in Turkish-Indonesian relations’ progress toward a strategic level.

Additionally, considering the fact that it has been slightly more than a year since KAAN’s maiden flight, the export contract reflects the trust in a new platform from an export customer.

TUSAS have also signed a significant agreement with Indonesia PT Republik Aero Dirgantara and PT Dirgantara Indonesia which covers the procurement of 48 KAAN Turkish Fighter along with cooperation in production engineering and technology sharing.
