FULMAR 500-A Radar Ready for Turkish UCAVs in 2026

ASELSAN announced (in its monthly magazine) that the Turkish Navy's future airborne AESA radar FULMAR 500-A will be seen onboard Turkish UCAVs in 2026.

A contract between SSB and ASELSAN was signed for the development of FULMAR 500-A, aimed at fitting Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), helicopters, and UCAVs (AKSUNGUR, AKINCI) in Turkish Navy service with long-range ISR capabilities.

The turning-type radar will detect surface and air targets up to a range of 200 nmi or 370 km with a SAR mode. Submarine periscopes and naval mines will also be included within the detection portfolio of the FULMAR 500-A.

ASELSAN is also continuing its work on the smaller FULMAR 200-A, also known as the AESA SAR Pod. The monthly magazine includes that the development has been completed and the flight tests will begin soon.

FULMAR 200-A is being developed for smaller UAVs like Bayraktar TB2 and ANKA as a second sensor alongside the electro-optical system. The new SAR system weighs 23 kg and has a range of 40 km.
