Greek Army held talks with Lockheed Martin to negotiate to acquire long-range systems such as GMLRS and ATACMS or its successor, PrSM.
The Greek Ministry of Defence announced on September 9 that a meeting was held with Lockheed Martin representatives to provide information on issues related to long-range weapon systems. The company has the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS ) and Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) as tactical surface-to-surface missiles and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM ), which are the successor missiles to the ATACMS.
For the ground forces, the company produces two long-range systems: the GMLRS, which is launched by M-270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) and M-142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery System) systems and achieves a maximum range of over 70 km. The development of the GMLRS-ER extended-range version is underway, and it will be able to engage targets at ranges of up to 150 kilometres.
GMLRS is offered in two versions: GMLRS Unitary and GMLRS Alternative Warhead. PrSM missiles were developed as replacements for ATACMS. They are launched from the M-270 MLRS and M-142 HIMARS systems and achieve a maximum range of over 500 kilometres.
