MBDA’s MISTRAL 3 short-range air defence missile was fired from France’s Tigre Mk2 (Eurocopter Tiger) attack helicopter upon DGA’s integration request.
MBDA announced that MISTRAL 3, normally used as a short-range air defence missile, has been integrated on and fired from a French Air and Space Force Tigre Mk2 attack helicopter.
The integration took place following a DGA request to incorporate C-UAS capabilities on the French Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopters, locally designated as Tigre. MISTRAL 3’s laser proximity fuse allows higher effectiveness against small targets such as kamikaze UAVs
MISTRAL 3, as the latest in the MISTRAL line, has a range of eight kilometres and uses an IIR seeker with the unique prismatic window that doubles as a low-drag nosecone. France has adopted the missile with a tripod, remote-controlled SIMBAD RC, and SADRAL PDMS (Succeeding the CLOS type Crtoale PDMS) as the main launcher types.
