HAVELSAN announced the first customer of TUSAŞ’s HÜRJET advanced trainer’s flight simulator as Spain, which has selected the aircraft for the ITS-C programme.
Spain’s upcoming HÜRJET advanced trainers will use HAVELSAN’s simulator, with a localised user interface for Spanish pilots, while the Turkish firm provides the software.
Spain plans to acquire between 30 and 45 HÜRJET advanced trainers within the scope of the Integrated Training System for Combat (ITS-C) programme, mainly aiming to replace the ageing F-5M.
Set to have some modifications in accordance with Spanish requirements, HÜRJET in Spanish service will be locally designated “Saeta II”. The name Saeta was previously given as a name to the Hispano HA-200 family of aircraft, which included advanced trainer and light attack variants.
The total programme value is estimated at €3.12 billion, covering both the aircraft and a comprehensive advanced ground training system. The contract is expected to run until the end of 2035, with no option for extension.
